Fall 2008 Registration Process Successful

The 2008 Fall Semester at Northern Caribbean University (NCU) has officially begun. Classes resumed on Monday, August 25, following on the heels of the process of registration for freshmen and returning students and two exciting days of orientation.

Service Learning to Replace Manual Development at NCU

President of Northern Caribbean University, Dr. Herbert Thompson has announced that the university will no longer have a Manual Development programme; instead, that programme will be replaced by the introduction of Service Learning. The announcement was made at Colloquium 2008, held at the university’s main campus in Mandeville from Sunday, August 17 to Tuesday, August 19, 2008.

Colloquium 2008 at NCU

Northern Caribbean University’s (NCU’s) Colloquium 2008 was held under the theme, NCU 101 – Going Back to Basics. This year’s staging of the annual event took place over a three-day period, Sunday, August 17 to Tuesday, August 19 and focussed on how to transform the university ‘from good to great’. Colloquium is an event hosted by the NCU Administration with the aim of getting faculty and staff refocused on the mission and objectives of the institution.

On Sunday, August 10, 2008, six hundred and ninety seven (697) of the one thousand and ten (1010) Northern Caribbean University (NCU) candidates for graduation donned their regalia and took final strides as students, at the university’s 2008 commencement exercises.

Bernal Conferred with Honorary Doctorate by NCU

Sunday August 10, 2008 marked a new beginning for the 1010 candidates who officially graduated from Northern Caribbean University. Graduation at NCU is a three-day affair (Friday through Sunday), with the final day, Sunday, being the day that degrees are conferred.  This final day of conferral of degrees is known as the Commencement.  For some it had been just a dream, but before they knew it, it had become a wonderful reality.  Though many had to overcome adversity to get to this day in their lives, the battle was now over and the victory was a sweet one.  On this day they were rewarded for all their hard work.
