On Monday, September 10, 2012, Dr. Jaime Castrejon,
president of the Inter-American Theological Seminary (IATS), addressed the
ministers from the Atlantic Caribbean Union Mission (ACUM) on matters relating
to IATS and their continued education.
The event, which was sponsored by the ministerial
department of the union, was held at the union’s headquarters on Gladstone
Road, New Providence. The pastors from the South Bahamas Conference were
present at the venue while pastors from the North Bahamas Conference, the
Cayman Islands Conference, and the Turks and Caicos Islands Mission joined in
the session via Webex.

In his opening address, Dr. Castrejon gave a brief
history of the IATS. He noted that the seed for IATS was planted as far back as
1979, when the ministerial department of Inter-American Division (IAD) offered
courses for continuing education credits for its ministers. Today, IATS offers
degree programs at 10 universities throughout the IAD.
