The Abeng, the drums, Aeolian Harps, the tambourines, the trumpets you may ask yourself, what do all these instruments have in common? And that is that they are all instruments used throughout the evolution of our musical history, brought here by our ancestors and has been a part of its development since the inception of our culture. Dr Marilyn Anderson, arguably one of Northern Caribbean University’s foremost scholars of music, shares this very same opinion and recently shared her insight into the rich and unique history of music in Jamaica last week when she delivered a Public Lecture her at the institution’s Mandeville campus.
