‘Amidst
the pine trees and wind, under the dazzling sun, students could be seen making
their way to the Main Auditorium for the noon-day Chapel assembly of the Summer
Session 1. Though student enrolment in the summer sessions is significantly
lower than that of the regular fall and spring semesters, the Auditorium was
reasonably filled. The mood seemed very festive, probably related to the
complimentary weather conditions on the outside.
A
lusty song service was conducted by Simone Wallen, Shaneka Walters, Kristoye
Nooks, and Gilhiesa Smith. Mr Patrick Smith, Associate Vice President of
University Relations, delivered the devotional message, inspiring the students
to reach for greatness. He shared his recollection of student life on campus,
and the financial obstacles which he had to overcome.
