Are you feeling depressed and lonely? Have
you lost interest in things you once enjoyed? I bet you sometimes feel that
there is no one you can talk with; but alas there is! At Northern Caribbean
University’s main campus in Mandeville, the Counselling centre lends an ear to
listen, a shoulder to cry on, and a confidant that you can share your concerns
with. The Counselling Centre does not label an individual by past mistakes or
events, but instead, it seeks to bring out the diamond in the rough.

Here at NCU prayer is shared constantly
You might be afraid to seek counselling
because you are uncertain if this individual can be trusted. Trust is hard to
gain we know, but it is not just about trust; it is about developing a
friendship. Trust is at the core of all meaningful relationships. Without
trust there can be no giving, no bonding, and no risk-taking. In order for trust
to be regained, betrayal must be acknowledged. The wrongdoer must admit that he or she has inflicted a deep hurt, and the victim
must look at what he or she could have done to make things different. Seeking
and accepting forgiveness is the first step toward rebuilding a more secure
relationship. In new relationships, at the appropriate time, discussion of a
past situation can alert a caring partner to the other's sensitivities and
vulnerabilities.
No
one likes to feel vulnerable. When this is so, you are
missing out on your full potential. Instead of being vulnerable, think about
all the possible opportunities that you have omitted from within your path by
hiding your true desires. Don’t allow fear to hold you back. Live your life by
being you. Embrace who you are.

we stand, divided we fall.
