NCU and the Microsoft Imagine Cup

The Imagine Cup is an annual global technology competition sponsored by Microsoft to provide students with a platform to showcase their software development and technical skills. The competition has several categories whereby students may participate, the most momentous of which being the Software Design category.

This year, NCU has two teams in the world finals. Team Educ8 and Team Xormis will shoulder the hopes and dreams of the nation and the region when it battles for the world championship title in Poland from July 3 – 8, 2010.

Traditionally, Imagine Cup Teams from across the island and the region have participated in the Software Design category for which students from the Department of Computer & Information Sciences at Northern Caribbean University (NCU) have been successful.

NCU was crowned regional champions in 2005, 2007, and 2009. In 2007, NCU Imagine Cup Team ICAD represented Jamaica and the region at the world finals in South Korea where it outclassed competitors from across the globe to place 3rd in the world.
